Exceptional Children’s Preschool Teacher

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional work to assist in the coordination of the Exceptional Children’s Preschool Services for Cherokee County Schools. Work involves functioning as a consultant to schools and community agencies and ensuring the implementation of required policies and procedures affecting students with disabilities. Employee is responsible for reviewing psychological reports, medical reports, and achievement test results to help determine eligibility and placement of students with disabilities. Employee is responsible for developing and implementing IEPs for children ages 3 - 5. Employee is responsible for gathering and maintaining the necessary data utilized to report for Indicators 7, 11, and 12 in a timely manner. Employee is also responsible for gathering and maintaining the necessary data and documentation to support the federal grant for Preschool Services for Exceptional Children Program.Work is guided by and must be in compliance with Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Degree in Special Education or a related field, and at least 3 years of successful teaching experience with students that have disabilities; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, etc. Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
